Here is the opportunity to work in a Major Tertiary referral hospital and/or regional emergency department. All of this while living next to the beach, without having the hustle and bustle of the big city. A variety of fulltime and part-time Staff Specialist positions have become available at Wollongong Hospital, Shell Harbour and Shoalhaven Hospitals for passionate and motivated individuals to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine.
Our District Emergency Departments see a combined total of nearly 150,000 patients per year. We have access to most specialities within our region, including general, trauma and sub-specialty surgery, general and sub-specialty medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and mental health.
The ISLHD Emergency Departments are accredited by the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (ACEM) for ED training with Wollongong Hospital as a major centre for training since 2022.
ISLHD runs a successful Registrar teaching program with a dedicated education team that consistently achieves Fellowship examination success. ISLHD EDs are served by the ISHEC- Simulation centre and provide a Special Skills Term in Simulation Medicine training for ED trainees. It also has an Ultrasound Special Skills Term for ED trainees. Further opportunities for teaching include medical students from the local University of Wollongong Graduate School of Medicine through to the ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate and Diploma.

You will work 4 x 10 hour shifts with protected Non-Clinical time as per College guidelines if working full-time (Part-time positions available with similar awards) and enjoy a good mix of acuity, pathology, and paediatrics.
