Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll function within our organization. The Payroll Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all payroll activities are executed accurately, on time, and in compliance with relevant regulations. This role involves managing payroll systems, supervising payroll staff, and coordinating with HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Processing : Oversee and manage the preparation and processing of payroll for AU and NZ employees, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions. Compliance and Regulations : Ensure that payroll processes comply with all federal, state, and local regulations, including tax withholdings, benefits deductions, and labor laws. Keep up to date with changes in tax laws and regulations. Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor the payroll team, ensuring that payroll specialists adhere to best practices and meet performance standards. Provide training and support as needed. Reporting and Documentation : Prepare and submit payroll reports, including tax filings, Super/KiwiSaver contributions, and any other required documents. Handle and oversee year-end reports. Audit and Reconciliation : Ensure the accuracy of payroll by performing regular audits and reconciling discrepancies. Work with finance to resolve any payroll-related issues and discrepancies. Employee Support : Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding payroll issues, including answering questions about wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits. System Management : Manage outsource payroll software and systems, ensuring that data is input accurately and on time. Troubleshoot any payroll system issues and work to implement improvements with outsource payroll provider. Process Improvement : Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Implement new tools or technologies to streamline payroll operations. Confidentiality : Ensure that all payroll information is kept confidential and secure, adhering to data protection and privacy regulations. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll management or a similar role. Strong understanding of payroll processing, tax regulations, and compliance requirements. Experience with payroll software (e.g., Preceda, Dayforce, SAP, etc.). Proven leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple priorities. Certification in payroll (e.g., Certified Payroll Professional – APA or TAPS) is preferred but not required. Preferred Skills: Experience with multi-state payroll processing and related tax laws. Familiarity with HR processes and benefits administration. Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools. Experience with cloud-based payroll systems or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. Previous experience in outsources payroll projects and managing payroll vendors.
