The Role
The Warfare Products Director is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing management of product management strategies to achieve optimal use of Defence resources and assets through balancing cost, opportunities and risks for intended realisation of Warfare Systems effects on Naval assets and sites.
The Warfare Products Director will ensure the latest technology and pre-eminent capability is delivered to the war-fighter, whilst promoting strategic Defence industry engagement and investment. The role requires considerable stakeholder engagement in a complex operating environment to achieve integration and interoperability between combat management systems and warfare products.
The Warfare Products Director will work flexibly across product lines to achieve the integrated effect, provide timely and informed advice to the executive and assurance of execution to achieve timely upkeep and update of the Naval Fleet and its Integrated Systems.
International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) is the United States regulation that controls the manufacture, sale and distribution of defence and space-related articles and services. The ITAR contains a list of “restricted” countries that are unable to access ITAR controlled information, and therefore we will need to know if an applicant holds dual citizenship to one of the restricted countries to ensure they meet the requirement to perform the role (and we do not breach any ITAR requirements).
The successful candidate may commence on a Negative Vetting 1 Security Clearance however, they must be able to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 2 Security Clearance.
This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Agreement (DEA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems Branch under Major Surface Combatants and Combat Systems Division is an exciting and complex environment to work in, offering a rewarding career in one of the most dynamic organisations within Naval Shipbuilding & Sustainment Group. Our Ideal Candidate
Applicants should have (attributes/experience):
1. Demonstrated experience and comprehensive knowledge of delivering on Government decisions – with experience delivering Acquisition Projects and Sustainment of Products; and
2. Demonstrated experience with stakeholder relationships both internally and externally to Government and strong communication skills – preferably has strong experience navigating stakeholders at the Director to Division Head levels.
The Successful applicant will be expected to perform the following major duties
(accountabilities/responsibilities):
3. Transition acquisition assets into service to be sustained in the Directorate under a Materiel Sustainment Agreement (MSA);
4. Enable the successful coordination of Products into Major Acquisition and Sustainment Programs; and
5. Provide product road-mapping advice and support to senior management on product/project strategy across the branch.
