We are in the market for self-motivated and experienced individuals who are able to undertake general parks and gardens maintenance throughout the City, including the maintenance of road corridors and other City owned and managed assets and land. What impact will you make?
* You like to work as part of a team, under the direction of the Team Leader, in all aspects of general parks and gardens maintenance, including:
o Operation of ride-on mowers, edgers, blowers, and brush cutters.
o Operating of tractors for general activities, such as slashing and turf renovations.
o Monitoring turf and garden water needs.
o Weed management, including the application of herbicides and the removal of weeds manually.
o Assisting with garden maintenance, including mulching, planting and pruning of vegetated areas.
o Applying chemicals such as wetting agents and fertilisers to turf and garden areas.
o Installing vertical pine pole bollards and other fencing.
o General litter collection, cleaning up and the blowing down of paved surfaces.
o Undertaking tree planting and street watering programs as directed.
* You like to undertake basic daily maintenance and safety inspections of equipment and mowing machinery used in the course of duty.
* You are friendly and will respond to customer enquiries (in the field) in a professional and courteous manner.
What can you bring to the team?
* Certificate II in Horticulture and/or Certificate II in Turf Management
* Current White Card
* Current unrestricted MR class drivers licence
* Previous experience working in a parks and gardens environment
* Basic horticultural knowledge
* Knowledge and experience in the safe operation of garden maintenance equipment such as ride on mowers, brush cutters, chainsaws, hedge pruners, garden hand tools
* Experience and knowledge in the safe handling and application of weed spraying chemicals
* Competent in the use of tablets, smartphones and other electronic devices
The finer details
A permanent full time OSE 2 position attracts a salary range of $67,801 - $69,563 gross per annum dependent on qualifications and experience. As part of our recruitment process, you will be required to participate in a full pre-employment medical that includes drug and alcohol testing.
