Primary objective Advise, develop, and manage the Family and Youth Support (FYS) day/afternoon teams in effective delivery of the Circuit Breaker program including working with families to develop Family Responsibility Agreements (FRA) and providing specialist family and youth support in accordance with FRA, relevant legislation and the Department’s program policies and procedures. Key duties and responsibilities 1. Responsible for the supervision, training, rostering, and development of both the daytime and afternoon FYS teams to ensure smooth delivery of the Circuit Breaker program including Family Responsibility Agreements and other aspects of the program seven days a week. 2. Provide high level oversight of Circuit Breaker program ensuring strong linkage across all FYS teams to maximise support to families through non-statutory case management support and specialist youth support to achieve goals as identified in FRA. 3. Work closely with Manager Family and Youth Support (Night) to ensure joined up collaboration and consistent messaging and approach across teams in alignment with goals and identified outcomes of FRAs. 4. Undertake statutory responsibilities and exercise delegations under the Care and Protection of Children Act NT 2007 in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. 5. Ensure project performance and focus on identifying service delivery gaps and opportunities for continuous improvement for the work unit. 6. As a member of the Department’s management team, contribute to the overall management of the office, including data collection, practice standards, workload trends, program development, community networking and consultation to achieve an integrated best practice approach to service delivery. 7. Participate in the Agency’s After-Hours Youth Services as needed. Selection criteria Essential 1. Extensive experience in the delivery of non-statutory case management, including experience in management, supervision, and coordination of a team. 2. Experience and/or understanding of Family Responsibility Agreements and an ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation into practical application. 3. Highly developed leadership and management skills with proven ability to achieve outcomes through using effective interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to be innovative and manage change. 4. Demonstrated ability to manage human, financial, and physical resources, including the ability to lead, motivate and support staff to achieve outcomes and build effective teams. 5. Demonstrated effective oral and written skills with previous experience in preparation of high-level briefings and reports. 6. Demonstrated ability to communicate and work constructively within culturally diverse settings, including a demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture, family, and community structures. 7. Highly developed engagement skills including the ability to influence and negotiate outcomes across organisational boundaries with a diverse range of stakeholders. Desirable 1. A degree in social science or other relevant discipline. 2. Formal qualification in management, organisational development, or other relevant qualification. A degree of an Australian tertiary institution, which gives eligibility for membership of the Australian Community Workers Association, the Australian Association of Social Workers, or the Australian Psychological Society, or equivalent OR Diploma of Child, Youth and Family Intervention AND Vocational Graduate Certificate in Community Service Practice (Statutory Child Protection) OR Graduate Certificate in Safe Communities (Child Protection). 2.
