About The Opportunity
We have an exciting opportunity for a Rates and Property Officer to join our team on a temporary basis to cover parental leave. In this role, you will provide administrative support to the Rating/Property team in maintaining Council’s rates, property, and water databases. This position is crucial in ensuring compliance with legislative requirements while delivering high-quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in maintaining Council’s corporate database system accurately and efficiently.
* Support a team-oriented culture within the Rates/Property Team, ensuring high performance and quality customer service.
* Ensure compliance with legislative and statutory requirements.
* Provide effective and courteous administrative support, including rate, property, water, and debt-related enquiries.
* Process, maintain, and validate eRates and BPay View functions, including unsuccessful email and notification follow-ups.
* Assist with maintenance and verification of pensioner, property, rates, and water modules where required.
* Process changes of address information accurately and in a timely manner.
* Manage returned mail for the Revenue Section and liaise with internal sections as needed.
* Assist with preparing monthly statistical reports and general correspondence.
* Provide other administrative support to the Department as required.
About You
* Demonstrated experience in providing administrative support in a busy professional environment with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
* Proven ability to provide confidential, client-focused administrative support while managing strict deadlines and competing priorities.
* Ability to work independently within a professional team environment, demonstrating tact and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer-focused approach when dealing with internal and external stakeholders.
* Strong ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and use industry-standard software packages effectively.
* Knowledge and experience in Council’s rating activities would be highly regarded.
* Certificate or diploma-level qualifications relevant to the role would be advantageous.
