Reporting to the Superintendent Process, the Chemist is responsible for conducting various testing on chemical products, analysing their compounds and refining their composition, and improving the quality of product and procedures whilst ensuring safety.

BCI Minerals Limited (ASX:BCI) is an Australian owned mineral resources company with salt and potash as its initial focus. A future Tier One project, Mardie has been designed to produce 5.35Mtpa of high-purity salt and 140ktpa of Sulphate of Potash (SOP).

The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Chemist to join our team, responsible for developing and preparing workflows, policies, procedures, staffing requirements, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that align with our company standards for productivity, quality, and stakeholder engagement. The successful candidate will also be tasked with developing, validating, and conducting tests for chemical ingredients, substances, and materials while participating in high-level chemical research projects to create improved testing methods.
Collaboration with processing technical teams will be essential to optimise processing opportunities for quality and production. The role includes regular inspections of equipment, tools, and machinery, overseeing general maintenance as necessary.
You will be able to coordinate the implementation of new process systems and equipment, as well as take part in upgrades to existing systems. Planning and optimising laboratory, operational, and maintenance strategies to drive efficiencies and high performance will be crucial. In addition, you will train and manage the laboratory team to address day-to-day operational issues and meet short-term performance goals. Your responsibilities will extend to assisting in the design, construction, commissioning, and setup of the site laboratory, as well as developing laboratory policies, procedures, and safe systems of work.
About You:
The successful candidate will hold:
* Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or another relevant field
* Strong knowledge of laboratory technology, tools, and testing equipment
* 7+ years proven experience in an industrial environment, Salt or Potash experience is highly desirable
* Clear written communication skills to produce accurate lab reports
* Sound understanding of laboratory health and safety regulations
* Exceptional analytical research skills
* Method development and validation
* Qualifications in leadership and management
* Current, valid WA C Class Driver's License
* Preferred knowledge of Mines Safety and Inspection Act
* Knowledge of safety and environment management systems
* Current First Aid certificate
The successful candidate will be required to provide a national police clearance that is not older than 3 months and must hold a WA White Card.
You must have current unrestricted working rights for Australia to be eligible for consideration.
