The successful candidate will be responsible for managing, tracking, and driving resolution of defects, ensuring high-quality product delivery while maintaining a focus on continuous improvement.
This role requires a blend of technical and leadership skills, as well as strong problem-solving abilities.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee the entire defect lifecycle from identification and logging to resolution and closure, ensuring effective tracking and communication throughout the process.
Lead and participate in defect triage meetings, working with cross-functional teams (development, QA, product) to prioritize and assign defects based on severity and impact.
Provide regular status reports on defect trends, root cause analysis, and progress toward resolution.
Identify recurring issues and work with relevant teams to implement preventive actions.
Collaborate with development teams, QA teams, and other stakeholders to ensure timely defect resolution.
Communicate defect status, risks, and solutions to senior management.
Contribute to the overall quality strategy by ensuring that defects are tracked, managed, and resolved in a way that supports high-quality product delivery.
Continuously assess and improve the defect management process to drive efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring that best practices are followed.
Utilize defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla, Quality Center) to manage and monitor defect resolution.
Train teams on defect management tools and processes.
Proactively identify potential risks related to defects and work with the relevant teams to mitigate and resolve those risks before they impact the project.
Required skills and qualifications: Prior demonstrated experience as a defect manager Experience in defect management in large Programs spanning across distributed teams – including internal, external vendors and business.
This will include reporting on defects, chairing the triage, liaising with teams and follow up.
Prior experience in SAP, Salesforce and other ERP applications Experience in working with Azure DevOps for Test and Defect Management and reporting Experience with reporting defect trends and working with teams in both defect and change management.
