The ICU Registrar will be responsible for the management of clinical/medical issues relating to the patient in liaison with the Intensivist, Medical Specialist, and nursing staff to ensure patient care and clinical outcomes.THE HOSPITALThis private hospital's facility has approximately 150 beds, with services such as an extensive range of acute and medical healthcare including ICU, orthopaedics, cardiology, cardiothoracic surgery, general surgery, neurosurgery, plastic surgery, vascular surgery, urology, and geriatric medicine. Their ICU Department is fully operational 24 hours a day, seven days a week with ICU trained nurses and specialist doctors.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, ACTIVITIES, AND DUTIESPractice in accordance with hospital and relevant Government Health policies and procedures, the position description, Code of Conduct, and industrial agreements.Participate in meetings and education sessions as required.Assist in the supervision of interns and residents and engage in opportunities for the extension of their clinical knowledge and skills.Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, apply medical knowledge and experience in the diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of patients.Maintain effective communication with patients and their relatives, hospital staff, medical colleagues, and General Practitioners.Participate in scheduled handover meetings.Maintain close liaison with consultants regarding patient conditions.Ensure effective handover of patients requiring ongoing care and monitoring at the end of each shift.Maintain medical records in accordance with hospital policy and requirements, including the accurate and timely production of discharge summaries.Work within personal levels of expertise and seek assistance as required.Flexibility in performing duties in response to operational needs of the department.Facilitate coordination of multidisciplinary education.Facilitate coordination of presentations at morbidity and mortality meetings.Contribute to systems improvement and quality monitoring activities in conjunction with designated supervisor, including audit projects with approval.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSFull registration with AHPRAMinimum 3 years Post Graduate experience or 1 year plus intensive care/Emergency/Anaesthetic experience.Ability to intubate and demonstrate clinical competence in an emergency.Current ALS certificateBe self-motivated, be a role model, and be able to work independently.Strong leadership qualities and interpersonal skills.Ability to resolve issues by analysing and being innovative.Apply theoretical knowledge and experience in determining the appropriate clinical diagnosis, investigations, and treatment of patients.Ability to assist interns and residents to extend their clinical skills and knowledge.High level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Demonstrated commitment to the provision of a high-quality clinical service.THE LOCATIONCanberra is a city with outstanding amenities and excellent housing, educational and leisure opportunities.
