The Opportunity **1-Year Maternity Leave Cover** Reporting to the General Counsel and Company Secretary, you will assist with the delivery of all required internal legal services within Aveo Group to meet the Group's objectives.
What we offer 2 additional 'All About Me' leave days per calendar year Ability to purchase additional annual leave Flexible and Hybrid working arrangements Opportunities for contract extension, and further career development You will Lead the execution of complex legal related projects within all segments of the Aveo retirement business Ensure resident contracts are compliant and current including, where necessary, working with external lawyers to update and review documents Work with appointed lawyers to ensure we have compliant templates Where required, assist with the negotiation of individual contracts Identify risks in documents related to other areas (e.g.
finance and tax) and arranging relevant investigations (including sign off's and/or variations) Assistance in resolution of contractual or legal related disputes with existing or former retirement village residents Support Regional Operations Managers in relation to mediation and tribunal actions Identify document management needs and opportunities for templates and precedents to give resident facing teams better tools Periodically review existing legal related processes, systems and operations across all aspects of the retirement business Develop and maintain relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders Ad hoc legal work as determined by senior management, including specific projects within the retirement living business What you'll bring Relevant qualifications and/or Degree in Law Current Practising certificate Understanding of the retirement village and aged care legal and regulatory environment on a national basis highly desired Minimum 5 years' experience in in-house legal team and, preferably, top tier legal firm Ability to critically review and provide opinions on legal documents and contracts Ability to analyse information, understand its impact on value and risk and assess the outcomes Ability to concisely communicate these outcomes both verbally and in written/presentation form Ability to be able to meet deadlines and balance competing pressures Excellent written and verbal communication skills Who we are As a leader in retirement living, with 30 years' experience, Aveo provides the stability and confidence to try new things and keep innovating.
