The Exercise and Training Support Services program
This program is a key component of the Collective and Individual Training Support Services (CITSS), delivering realistic exercise and training scenarios to support individual and collective training objectives. The goal is to achieve workforce generation outcomes through:
* Designing and executing advanced exercises
* Providing comprehensive training support
* Delivering specialised advanced training
The services enable collective and individual military training at strategic, operational, and tactical levels through sub-service categories including:
Sub-Service Categories
Specialist Planning (Levels 4–6): Integrating into joint or single-service formation-level headquarters, supporting deliverables in joint and staff military appreciation processes, providing executive briefings, operational orders, workshops, reports, and presentations.
Operational Analysis (Level 3): Designing and delivering holistic training and exercises focused on operational analysis.
Tactical Analysis (Level 2): Delivering training on tactical analysis, collecting data to support small unit objectives, enabling training outcomes, designing tactical analysis exercises to meet designated training objectives, conducting post-activity reviews to enhance future performance.
Exercise Planning (Levels 2–6): Directing and leading training to achieve designated outcomes, coordinating supporting elements, designing military exercises tailored to training objectives, collecting and compiling exercise feedback, and translating it into actionable improvements.
Coaching/Mentoring (Levels 3–6): Providing performance coaching grounded in behavioural science and non-military frameworks, offering coaching in diverse locations and settings to support realistic training.
Working Conditions
This role involves:
* Contractual engagements
* Location: Australia-wide, across Defence bases including Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, and Townsville
* Travel: Requires travel across multiple Defence bases locally and interstate
What will make you successful in this role?
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Current Baseline or Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearance (or higher)
* Experience working with the Australian Government or Defence
* Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities
* Strong problem-solving capabilities
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a dynamic and driven team
In addition, specific requirements vary depending on the sub-service category:
* Specialist Planning (Levels 4–6): Comprehensive understanding of strategic and operational environments
* Operational Analysis (Level 3): Strong understanding of operational and tactical environments; skilled in data collection, analysis, and review
* Tactical Analysis (Level 2): Proficient in data collection, analysis, and review
* Exercise Planning (Levels 2–6): Well-practised in the Military Appreciation Process
* Coaching/Mentoring (Levels 3–6): Demonstrated experience in coaching and mentoring
