The Role and our Branch
The Strategy, Stakeholder Engagement and Media team are responsible for the overarching communication strategy and governance, and manage stakeholder engagement, business and media services for the Communications directorate, including:
Strategy and Governance
4. setting strategy, standards and processes for the directorate
5. stakeholder engagement and relationship management
6. communications planning and policy
7. maintains ‘project management office’ within Communications to ensure projects are established and delivered using the project governance framework, including planning and regular reporting
8. priority setting, performance monitoring and measurement of projects
9. executive/business support and corporate reporting.
Stakeholder Engagement
10. manage and influence stakeholder engagement and media activities, and provide consistent support to internal stakeholders
11. manage brokerage of Communications services using business partnering model and project matrix structure
12. strategic relationship management with directorates across the education department, the office of the Director General and the Minister’s office
13. brand and messaging, speeches
14. engagement with directorates about their strategy, plans and products.
Media Relations
15. media strategy, policy and advice
16. managing both media responses to incidents or contentious issues and creating proactive stories
17. media monitoring and training.

You will coordinate the delivery of communication projects/programs, working collaboratively across the directorate to support the delivery of cross functional projects. The successful applicant will undertake project planning, project management, delivery and contracts to deliver communication projects/activity outcomes and appropriate research and analysis to support decision or recommendations.
As the Communications Officer - Strategy & Governance, you will review existing sources of insight (including previous communication activity) to understand overall context for communication and audience influences/influencers.
