Supervising Heavy Vehicle Technician
Position Objectives
The Technician will be an important part of the workshop. Apprentices will learn the trade and skills to be able to service and maintain many different Heavy Vehicles throughout their employment at Wagga Trucks. They will be supervised by a Qualified Heavy Vehicle Technician who will act as a mentor to the Apprentice. They will be expected to coordinate resources and liaise with their supervisor to ensure work is delivered on time and to a high standard.
Expectations
1. Be fit for work and specifically not impaired by alcohol or drugs.
2. Ensure you are clocking on and off of all customer jobs.
3. Ensure you are assisting your supervisor complete paperwork at a high standard so the service department isn’t delayed.
4. Ensure you are obtaining purchase order numbers for all sublets.
5. Ensure you are working with your supervisor and the parts interpreters to book all parts efficiently and not missing anything.
6. Ensure a high standard is being delivered in all repairs, servicing, inspections and maintenance.
7. Maintain a professional appearance and manner at all times.
Duties supervised by a Heavy Vehicle Technician
1. Conduct a complete range of motor vehicle diagnoses and fault finding.
2. Use knowledge and skills to acquire automotive parts and accessories for all automotive repairs and maintenance as required.
3. Use knowledge and skills to assist repairs in a cost effective and efficient manner.
4. Carry out a range of detailed motor vehicle inspections when required.
5. Conduct automotive servicing and repairs.
6. Conduct general motor vehicle maintenance.
7. Have a solid understanding of all fault reports, maintenance and inspections forms.
8. Differentiating between Warranty and Non-Warranty work and liaise with the Service Foreman.
9. Work with the Warranty Administration Clerk for all Warranty work and assure all paperwork, new parts and old parts are filled out and labelled correctly.
10. Take photos of work when required.
11. Operate workshop hoists in accordance with Wagga Trucks Health and Safety Policies.
12. Conduct workshop housekeeping as required.
13. Provide automotive technical advice as required.
14. Assist with in house training and supervision as required.
15. Assist other staff members as required.
16. Any other tasks as required for this position or other reasonable tasks as required.
Health & Safety and Personal Protective Equipment Requirements
1. Wear steel cap shoes/boots at all times.
2. Familiarise yourself with Wagga Trucks H&S policies and procedures.
3. Comply with Wagga Trucks H&S policies at all times.
4. Report all hazards and H&S issues to the Health and Safety Coordinator immediately.
5. Maintain a safe and clean working environment.
6. Have a solid understanding of safe working applications.
Requirements
1. Drivers Licence
2. Forklift licence (highly recommended)
3. Good communication skills & ability to talk to customers regarding work completed on their vehicles when required
4. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
5. Organisational skills
6. Attention to detail
