Millmerran Operating Company Pty Ltd operates the Millmerran Power Station, an 870 MW coal-fired electricity generating facility. We are committed to reliability, efficiency, safety, and compliance, and we are looking for a dedicated Lead Turbine Engineer to join our team.
About the role
As the Lead Turbine Engineer, you will lead the Balance of Plant Engineering Team to enhance the station's reliability and availability. You will manage all phases of plant life, focusing on the turbine, condensate system, feedwater system, high energy piping, fire system, cranes, compressors, valves, water treatment, and water delivery plants.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Balance of Plant Engineering Team.
* Ensure compliance with statutory standards, company policies, and procedures.
* Oversee overhaul scoping, planning, and delivery milestones.
* Respond to unit forced outages and ensure timely return to service.
* Develop and maintain effective relationships with maintenance teams and external partners.
* Manage team leave, flexible work arrangements, and professional development.
* Provide technical support and final engineering decisions.
* Investigate plant operational incidents and integrate lessons learned.
* Facilitate reliability-based approaches to analyze equipment performance data.
* Champion positive engagement between maintenance and engineering teams.
* Develop maintenance and capital budgets for asset areas.
* Promote proactive safety practices and environmental control policies.
Qualifications
* Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering.
* Registered Professional Engineer Queensland (RPEQ) or eligibility to obtain.
* Membership in the Institute of Engineers - Australia is highly regarded.
Experience
* Experience in power station operational practices and managing turbine systems.
* Experience with water treatment and auxiliary plant asset management.
* Knowledge of supercritical plant operation and environmental management.
* Basic understanding of the National Electricity Market.
* Knowledge of Power Plant Thermodynamic cycles and efficiency.
* Proven ability to manage and analyse data using industrial data historian systems.
