2. Base Salary: $194,454 – $224,445 (p.a.) pro rata

Central Australian Aboriginal Congress (Congress) is currently looking for a caring and committed doctor to be an integral part of a newly set up multidisciplinary team at the Alice Springs Youth Detention Centre.

What’s the role?
The position is part time (0.5 FTE) and the successful doctor will become part of the GP community within Congress as well as part of the team at the centre.
12. Provide culturally safe GP services within a comprehensive primary health care framework across all sections of Congress’ Health Services Division
13. Work to the principles, values and philosophy of Congress as an Aboriginal community controlled health service
14. Undertake comprehensive primary health care clinical consultations in a holistic manner
15. Be available for after-hours and weekend duties as rostered
Is this the right role for you?
Before you apply, we need you to have:
16. Current registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
17. Fellow of the RACGP or ACRRM, or a minimum of five years of GP experience
18. Good communication skills in cross-cultural environment
19. Ability to work well under pressure, and work effectively in a multidisciplinary primary health care team
20. Willingness to accommodate Aboriginal values and traditions in clinical practice including willingness to take cultural advice form Aboriginal staff
21. Awareness of and sensitivity to Aboriginal culture and history, and knowledge of current issues affecting the lives of aboriginal people
22. Additional qualifications which may include DipRANZCOG, FARGP or MPH, highly desired
23. Accreditation or experience as a supervisor of GP registrars, an advantage
24. Ability and appropriate levels of health and fitness to travel to and work from remote locations
25. Current NT Drivers License or the ability to obtain
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are strongly encouraged to apply.
