The Office of Governance Services set within the Office of the University Secretary plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the University’s corporate and academic governance, providing essential support to key decision-making bodies and leadership teams.
About the Role
The Senior Governance Officer is a vital part of the University’s governance team, providing expert advice and support across a range of governance responsibilities.
Leading a small, dedicated team of Governance Officers, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating corporate and academic governance committees, including the Board of Trustees’ standing committees, including the Academic Senate, and Senate committees. You will oversee the preparation and distribution of committee agendas, papers, and minutes, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.
You will offer high-level advice on governance matters, support the development and review of University policies, and manage key functions such as student appeals, misconduct hearings, and University elections. Yourwork will also involve liaising with senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure the effective communication of key committee outcomes and governance issues.
About You
To thrive in this role, you will need a strong command of written English, excellent attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills. You must be capable of managing multiple complex tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment where time sensitivity is critical. Your experience in providing clear, high-quality advice on governance matters and secretariat support with specific experience in independent elections processes including the use of voting software will be highly valued.
