Viterra is currently seeking people who have studied or arestudying a Bachelor of Science to work the harvest in our technicallaboratory located in Thebarton.
This role involves testing of grain commodities for geneticallymodified analysis and sample preparation for chemical residuetesting.
Ourlaboratory plays a crucial role in upholding our high food andfeed safety standards across our sites, ensuring accurateclassification so we continue to meet end use customer requirementsand maintain market access for local growers.
Most of our laboratory roles are available from October 2023 toJanuary 2024, so are typically ideal for students looking forsummer work.

Skills required:
* Experience performing DNA based testing with DNA extraction and PCR
* Ability to use appropriate equipment and methods for sample analysis
* Strong analytical skills including accurate weighing, pipetting and recording of information
* Demonstrated experience with sample extraction for analytical and molecular biological purposes
* Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks
Responsibilities include (but are not limitedto):
* Sample preparation involving registering samples, grinding, labelling, weighing, extracting for analysis
* Assist with the performing of PCR, LCMS and GCMS equipment to generate data for processing, reviewing and reporting by the Senior Analytical Chemist
* Recording of experimental data and test results
* Maintaining daily logs and equipment records
* Maintaining stock and resources required in the chemical laboratory
An intermediate competency in Microsoft Office products isrequired, as well as the ability to learn in-house systemsefficiently and effectively.
