The Opportunity
The Department of Transport’s Maritime Planning branch is seeking an experienced Drafting Officer to join their high performing team.
The branch is the State’s expert in coastal processes through the development of coastal engineering solutions for State Government and private sector in WA. The branch is responsible for the drafting of plans for Western Australia’s Coastal new and existing maritime facilities and engineering drawings of maritime infrastructure. They also assume responsibility for the preparation of strategic and detailed plans for recreational boating facilities along the WA coastline.
In this exciting and challenging role, you will become part of project teams across Maritime involved in drafting concept plans for new maritime facilities, preparing presentation materials for projects, and to draft detail design drawings and specifications for maritime construction projects in accordance with Australian Standards. Some of the exciting projects that you could be involved in include, and. You will be responsible for preparing drawings using AutoCAD and other design software, conducting reviews of maritime proposals, and background research for Maritime infrastructure projects.

About You
Our ideal candidate will have well developed interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with numerous project teams and technical experts, both internal and external to Maritime. You will be at the forefront of the digital technologies and coordinate drafting outputs; version control and record keeping and promote the use of up-to-date technologies in respect of digital drafting and presentation materials. You will have demonstrated competency in the use of Computer Aided Drafting technology, preferably AutoCAD.
