THE ROLE

We are seeking an engaged, innovative and enthusiastic team player with demonstrated experience building and maintaining good relationships across teams and agencies. You must be keen to work in a fast-paced, diverse, and cross-cultural workplace and network to produce tangible and practical outcomes. The ideal candidate will have well-developed understanding and experience in whole-of-government collaboration and decision-making to deliver outcomes and policy development.
A merit list may be produced from this process for vacancies in the Policy and Programs Group at Austrade over the next 18 months.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Working with Austrade’s global network as the interface between other government departments/agencies and Austrade’s business-facing teams onshore and offshore, you will:
• Lead and nurture team members and provide innovative, creative policy advice to achieve investment outcomes, as well as timely information and advice to the Austrade network to facilitate delivery of outcomes to support Australian Government priorities.
• Build and maintain networks to engage regularly with other relevant government departments/agencies to ensure Austrade’s position is relayed in whole-of-government policy initiatives, and influence and support the government’s investment priorities.
• Support team members to coordinate and develop Austrade’s input into key areas impacting Australia’s economic security including foreign investment, skilled workforce and migration, critical minerals investment, critical technologies and cyber security.
• Deliver high-quality data-driven briefing, analysis and policy advice to the Minister and Austrade Senior Executive to inform and influence government deliberations and outcomes on investment issues.
• Represent Austrade in whole-of-government processes and supporting the Senior Executive in policy deliberations that impact the investment and business environment and Australia’s international competitiveness.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders across Austrade, including the Trade & Investment Divisions and Visitor Economy Division, on matters influencing foreign investment and skilled migration policy.
