What we are looking for:
Do you have an understanding of library requirements, computer literacy and customer service skills?
We are looking for someone with good communication skills, ability to work in a team with excellent work ethic and flexible approach to working hours.
As a Library Assistant, you will play a crucial role in delivering top-notch, customer-focused library services to our patrons at the Hervey Bay and Maryborough locations.
There may also be times where you will get to work from our Tiaro, Howard and Burrum Heads locations.
What your day will look like:
Perform a range of circulation duties at FCRC Library branches such as membership registration, issues, returns, reservation processes, shelving and collection cataloguing, processing and maintenance.
Assist library customers with enquiries and requests.
Provide assistance to customers in library orientation, services and use of library equipment including the catalogue, e-library, kiosks and other library technology.
Work collaboratively with other Library Assistants and work experience participants.
Contribute to the promotion of library programs and activities.
Rostered at other branches as required, including branch runs.
Respond to any requests for information and assistance or direct appropriately.
Participate in Library meetings and contribute to discussions, procedural improvements and planning activities.
What you should have to apply:
Current Working with Children Blue Card or willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
Current Class C Driver's Licence.
Highly developed communication skills.
Understanding of daily requirements of a public library or related service organisation.
Physical capabilities.
What's nice to have:
Current First Aid Certificate.
Certificate III in Library and Information Studies, or equivalent, or willingness to obtain.
