About the Role Reporting to the Manager – Road Assets Design, the Manager - Pavement Design sits within the Assets and Engineering division and is responsible for, and leads a team of technical experts providing exceptional pavement related design and expert advice to stakeholders within the Department of Transport and Planning. The role will use creative and advanced problem solving to resolve complex technical issues. Developing and maintaining effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, representing the department at key project meetings and contributing to the discipline Community of Practice will be an important component of this role. The role’s responsibilities encompass leading a team to deliver structural design of flexible pavements and rigid pavements, rehabilitation treatments, structural overlays using mechanistic procedures, design of stabilisation treatments, pavement and surfacing condition, and selection of surfacing treatments. Position Outcomes / Accountabilities Pavement Design Delivery – The Manager - Pavement Design has ensured that exceptional and highly specialised high quality, pavement design services are delivered and leads a team to deliver within timeframes and on budget. Improved Pavement Design Capability – The incumbent has provided leadership and guidance and mentoring to uplift the technical capability in the pavement discipline. resulting in enhanced technical capability in relation to pavement design. Customer Focus – The incumbent has actively and effectively contributed to, and promotes a culture that is customer focussed. Trusted Advisor – Stakeholders’ trust and respect the advice and recommendations provided by the incumbent, who is considered to be a trusted advisor. The incumbent has actively and effectively contributed to a Community of Practice for pavement related matters, leading topics as required. Qualifications and Experience Mandatory Relevant tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering Relevant experience in pavement technology or pavement construction. Experience leading teams in a technical field Extensive experience in project management, delivering road related projects Excellent communication Skills Proven experience in mentoring and developing others Desirable Experience in Pavement Design May need to travel within the State for site inspections
