We are recruiting for an experienced Financial Counsellor to join our Community Engagement Services Division (CES). This position will be based in our Busselton office. The Community Engagement Services Division is an integrated team of Society employees and volunteers dedicated to supporting the profile, awareness, and 'good works' of the St Vincent de Paul Society encompassing a range of professional services, including policy development and implementation, procedural development, service evaluation, spirituality development, member formation, member skills training, administration, social justice advocacy and service provision. About the position: This position is an opportunity to deliver a quality service to people experiencing financial difficulty. Financial counsellors act as a primary resource to those requiring support in times of financial uncertainty; they provide key information and resources in addition to facilitating emergency relief. Financial Counsellors advocate and negotiate effectively for clients to improve and impact sustainable financial outcomes. Part time position (15.2 hours per week / Tuesday & Friday) Maximum-term contract (ending 30th June 2025) Delivery of effective and empathetic financial counselling services to those in financial difficulty 1:1 client support, including the provision of information advocacy, referrals to other appropriate services, education and as required, emergency financial relief Assessment of the financial situation of clients to identify immediate remedies and longer-term solutions to improve a client's financial wellbeing Case management administration including accurate and timely data entry Ensure sound budgeting guidance is delivered, supporting future financial stability for those facing short-term or long-term financial hardships What you need: Diploma in Community Services (Financial Counselling) Membership with FCAWA (Financial Counselling of Western Australia) Understanding of financial counselling, the finance industry and an awareness of consumer's rights and responsibilities including the ability to keep informed of industry knowledge Sound awareness of the issues encountered by persons suffering financial hardship and crisis Demonstrated ability to develop and foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders and proven ability to work sensitively and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds Excellent organisation and administrative skills Working for Vinnies WA Our values are at the heart of our Society, anyone who comes into contact with us is better for it, our employees are supported to grow and nurture their capacity for leadership and resilience and hold mission at our core.
