Maitland Grossmann High School is a comprehensive high school catering to students from Years 7 to 12. Student enrolment consists of 955 students, including 127 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 72 support students. Our 80 qualified staff consistently aim to empower each student to achieve their personal best in relation to academic outcomes, school leadership and community service. The school is renowned for strong traditions in academic, the creative and performing arts, STEM education, supporting students with disabilities, cultural and sporting pursuits. Our school provides learning environments that cater for individual student learning needs, as well as opportunities that allow all students to develop to their full potential. This includes an integrated model for disability education consisting of 11 classes in 2023.
Specific Selection CriteriaApplicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
·Demonstrated ability to lead, implement and evaluate strategic initiatives, policies and practices that support student wellbeing in order to improve student learning outcomes for students from a wide range of backgrounds.
·High level organisational skills and demonstrated ability to lead a large wellbeing team using a proactive approach to meeting the needs of complex students.
·Highly developed capacity to work closely with external agencies, staff, parents/carers and the wider community to support and case manage students with a diverse range of wellbeing needs, including at times of crisis.
·Proven capacity to work collaboratively as an effective member of the school executive to lead whole school and faculty initiatives that contribute to school improvement.
General Selection Criteria1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policiesConditions
