General Manager – Commercial and Contracting We are seeking an experienced and strategic General Manager – Commercial and Contracting to oversee and drive the commercial performance of ADF Health Services (ADFHS), encompassing ADF, Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA), and Open Arms (OA). In this pivotal role, you will lead and optimise the commercial outcomes across our portfolio, guiding strategic initiatives, and fostering innovation to improve business performance. Making an Impact at Bupa We are seeking someone with significant experience in senior commercial or contract management, particularly within healthcare or large-scale government contracts. You will have a strong ability to manage complex contracts, foster relationships with key stakeholders, and drive commercial success across a diverse portfolio. Your strategic mindset and leadership skills will be key in ensuring we deliver optimal outcomes for the ADFHS business. You will add value by: Developing and executing growth initiatives for the portfolio, maximising commercial outcomes and aligning with the company's broader strategy. Collaborating with the ADF Director to implement optimisation strategies across the ADF portfolio. Overseeing the ADFHS Contract, Subcontractor Contracts, and agreements with Joint Health Command (JHC) to ensure commercial viability and success. Building and maintaining strong relationships with JHC, subcontractors, internal teams, health insurance business stakeholders, and industry groups. Exercising high-level commercial judgment in managing financial, contractual, and commercial requirements, ensuring quality and financial outcomes. Providing executive oversight and direction in the re-tendering process of existing contracts and the bidding for new government contracts, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and competitive positioning. Leading the development, monitoring, and management of performance frameworks for financial and operational contract performance. Ensuring all contracts comply with legal, regulatory, and company standards, working closely with the Legal team. Monitoring, reporting, and analysing contract adherence and performance, ensuring governance and alignment with contract terms, managing improvements and required changes. Implementing risk mitigation and planning strategies, focusing on contract adherence and proactive resolution of issues with subcontractors. Providing industry insights to stakeholders, ensuring a seamless, customer-focused, and financially sound approach to contract management. About You To succeed in this role, you will have: Tertiary qualifications in Law, Business or Finance, with post-graduate qualifications or an MBA highly regarded. Relevant professional qualifications coupled with professional association and memberships. 10+ years contract and commercial management or relevant business experience within government, medical, pharmaceutical industry or healthcare services. Significant experience in a business leadership role, with proven success in commercial management, people leadership, stakeholder management and team development skills. Excellent written communication skills and proven experience in writing board reports, member customer communications and internal communications. Legislative understanding of the National Health Act, Privacy Act (Commonwealth) or other relevant legislation as applicable. A high level of contract, financial and commercial acumen, with proven experience in successfully managing commercial contracts (including negotiations), financial and operational performance. Prior experience within a customer-centric and high performing environment, focused on delivering exceptional value to customers and for our business. Exceptional negotiating and management skills with the ability to influence and persuade. Expert stakeholder management and relationship development skills, underpinned by strategy and execution.
