About Your Role
As an Occupational Hygiene Technician in the Health & Safety department at QAL, you will contribute to our Safe, Stable and Sustainable vision by promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with site policies and procedures.
* Promoting and driving a strong safety culture aligned with QAL's values.
* Ensuring compliance with site health, environmental, and community policies and systems.
* Handling and directing general occupational hygiene queries.
* Assisting with respirator and hearing protection fit-testing programs.
* Conducting occupational personal exposure monitoring and overseeing the feedback process.
* Performing other occupational hygiene sampling and measurements, coordinating offsite laboratory analysis, data management, and assisting with report compilation as required.
* Supporting the work of Occupational Hygiene Advisors as required.
* Managing calibration, servicing, and repairs of occupational hygiene equipment and instrumentation.
* Developing and reviewing occupational hygiene documentation.
* Providing Occupational Hygiene training and assessments as required.
* Undertaking role-related occupational hygiene projects as required.
Your Requirements
To be considered for this role, you should have:
* A strong commitment to ensuring the safety of yourself and your team.
* Completion of the Basic Principles of Occupational Hygiene course or a willingness to complete the training within 12 months of appointment.
* A continuous improvement mindset seeking ways to enhance processes, efficiency, and outcomes.
* Ability to thrive in a dynamic team environment and respond effectively to regular enquiries.
* Experience applying occupational hygiene principles in an industrial setting preferred.
* Experience in occupational exposure monitoring preferred.
* Capability to work independently and manage structured tasks within set timeframes.
* Proficiency in computer applications particularly within the Microsoft Office suite preferred.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to develop strong workplace relationships at different levels of the business.
