About the roleVicFleet is a business unit within the Government Procurement branch and provides services to mandated General Government departments and agencies, including vehicle purchasing; finance leasing; insurance; registration; and vehicle disposal. This position presents an exciting opportunity to support and lead the disposal operational delivery including decommissioning, rectifications, setting reserve prices and reporting to ensure optimal asset returns through accountable and transparent processes in support of the transition of ZEVs in the government fleet to achieve the Government agenda to move towards zero emissions. The occupant of this position will have extensive fleet operational management/disposal expertise, operational management of disposal contractor, knowledge of vehicles and understanding of the vehicle market. Experience in the Government sector would be highly regarded but not essential. The position will enable the occupant to display their broad range of skills in operational fleet management, stakeholder engagement, outcomes delivery, time management, data analytical and interpersonal skills. The occupant will be required to regularly travel to disposal points to supervise the disposal program, ensure contracts are being adhered to, best practice is achieved, and probity and accountability are maintained to achieve VicFleet and the Government's objectives. About you To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate: Experience in the motor vehicle industry, particularly related to the used vehicle market, government vehicle acquisition, decommissioning, inspection and rectification and various disposal programs. Experience in overseeing the disposal of fleet vehicles, including setting of reserve prices and the auction disposal process. Extensive experience to identify operational risks, think analytically with knowledge of process improvements and change management. Well-developed conceptual and analytical skills including the ability to analyse data and information, and produce high quality written reports and presentations. Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, including ability to prepare high quality correspondence, reports, and briefs. Excellent interpersonal skills, including a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work productively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, cooperating and working well with others to provide high quality work under pressure and to short deadlines. Technical expertise Ability to research and identify market trends and vehicle sales values through data analysis. Attention to detail in written documentation, particularly with data. Ability to develop clear and accurate information for the intended audience. Key accountabilities Lead the day-to-day disposals operations including decommissioning, rectification and sales arrangements (including establishing reserve prices) at auction house and in the office. Deliver on the disposal financial commitments and key income actions through increased accountability in accordance with government legislation, policies and procedures to meet VicFleet business objectives. Act as the client's representative by liaising with disposals contractor to facilitate optimal asset returns including developing and implementing effective marketing disposal strategies. Measure weekly performance on auction house and strategically implement changes to achieve the best sales results. Create detailed weekly and monthly reporting with trends, analysis, recommendations and action plans. Provide support, advice and critical analysis to VicFleet management on all aspects of vehicle disposal process and data. Maintain effective liaison with a range of internal and external client groups including departmental staff, representatives of the motor vehicle industry and contractors.
