Support the University’s digital transformation with organisational wide impact.About the RoleMacquarie University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our IT team as the Head of IT Project Management Office (IT PMO). In this senior role, you will be responsible for leading the University’s IT portfolio, programs, and project governance, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and successful delivery of business outcomes.You will work directly with the Director of Digital Transformation and the Deputy Chief Information and Digital Officer, to support the University’s digital transformation journey. Your expertise will drive project governance, resource management, financial oversight, and performance tracking across a dynamic and diverse range of IT projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the IT PMO and ensure successful delivery across Macquarie University’s IT portfolio, programs, and projects.Develop and implement project management methodologies, processes, and reporting standards to ensure projects are delivered on-time and within budget.Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and managing project resources and vendors.Manage a team of PMO professionals and ensure continuous professional development, fostering a high-performance culture.Drive collaboration across teams and with senior stakeholders to ensure projects are aligned with business objectives and deliver measurable outcomes.Provide expert advice and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to project governance and quality standards.Participate in external forums and collaborate with industry leaders to stay ahead of emerging trends in IT PMO practices.Experience & QualificationsA strong background in planning and delivering large-scale IT programs and projects, ideally in a higher education or complex multi-stakeholder environment.Proven leadership experience in managing IT PMOs and driving continuous improvement in project delivery processes and practices.Demonstrable experience creating, developing and implementing project management methodologies, governance, processes, and reporting standards for an IT PMO.Expertise in project management methodologies (Agile, PRINCE2, PMP) and P3M.Strong financial acumen and experience managing resource allocation and budgets to support the delivery of complex IT programs.A collaborative approach with excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, capable of influencing senior leadership and managing competing interests.Experience in providing end-to-end P3M assurance and managing digital transformation programs.Relevant tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (e.g., IT, Business or Finance).Certification in project management methodologies (Agile, PRINCE2, PMP) is highly desirable.Previous experience working in the higher education, research, or similar sectors is highly advantageous.About UsMacquarie is a university engaged with the real and often complex problems and opportunities that define our lives.
