About the Role
The role of the Operations Supervisor is to run the end to end operation of Sydney and surrounding bases, including rostering, people and performance supervision, safety and compliance.
This role will be supported by the East Coast Operations Manager.
Scope of role and indicative duties
1. Proactive and cooperative member of the Greyhound Australia Operations Department.
2. Be the primary point of call for Sydney Operations base and handle enquiries, escalating where required.
3. Ensure that all coach captains’ shifts are covered on rosters, in accordance with the Enterprise Agreement and legislative requirements.
4. Ensure that all driver shift changes comply with internal and external fatigue management regulations, standards and legislation.
5. Ensure all drivers commencing shifts in Sydney bases comply with fitness for duty standards and policies, encompassing fatigue management, absence of drugs and alcohol and so on.
6. Produce accurate, relevant and timely information and reports to internal and external customers.
7. Assist others to manage incidents in region.
8. Accept on call responsibilities on a rotational or as required basis including weekends and public holidays.
9. Maintain work standards and motivation, set high goals and standards for self and the team in region.
10. Ensure a team culture is developed through positive and supportive leadership.
11. Provide staff with documented feedback of performance on important areas such as, but not limited to, on time performance, standard of fleet, compliance with company standards, achievement of departmental and company goals etc., as compared to goals through quarterly reviews and ongoing feedback.
12. Ensure staff in the region comply with company procedures, motor vehicle and workplace accident reporting, customer feedback, pre-departure checks etc.
13. Comply with human resources, industrial relations and safety policies, procedures and practices and lead team by example.
14. Embrace and implement new technologies when appropriate.
15. Compliance with government and regulatory authorities.
16. Ensure the implementation of the company’s safety systems, ensuring reasonable care for the health and safety of myself and any person who is under my control.
Experience
Mandatory
17. Knowledge of the Coach Transport Industry preferred.
18. Experience in administrative, logistics or transport roles.
19. Completion of competency “Administer the implementation of fatigue management strategies” or the ability to do so.
20. Commitment to compliance with company’s fatigue management and fitness for duty policies and procedures.
21. The ability to see the big picture yet still understand the day to day needs and requirements of the business and allocate resources as required.
22. The ability to communicate, a preparedness to take initiative, a strong results orientation whilst demonstrating a professional work ethic.
23. A strong customer orientation and a preparedness to work with and through others to achieve results.
24. Intermediate to advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office and company systems).
25. Knowledge of, and/or experience with, human resources, industrial relations and occupational health and safety practices, policies and procedures.
26. The ability to prioritise, multi-task and follow through on required actions.
Desirable
27. Tertiary qualifications in appropriate Logistics, Transport based discipline or relevant industry experience.
