Payroll Manager (16-month contract) WHO WE ARE

Optiver's Sydney office is one of the primary players within Asian markets, trading a range of products. Established in 1996, we're an active participant on the Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, India, Taiwan and Japan exchanges, and act as Optiver's APAC head office.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will work closely with the wider Finance Team and other business departments to manage the payroll function. This role offers opportunity for growth and the ability for you to support decisions that impact the business. Your responsibilities will include:
1. Liaise with outsourced payroll providers and the HR team to ensure accuracy and timeliness of the end-to-end monthly payroll for ~600 employees (both Australian and APAC regional)
2. Manage all payroll tasks including processing relevant country pensions, taxes and other payroll related obligations
3. Process monthly Australian payroll tax lodgements and annual reconciliation
4. Independently monitor and respond to Payroll Inbox queries
5. Provide ad hoc payroll reporting to HR and other internal departments
6. Support payment of with various variable pay (bonus) and long-term incentives
7. Identify continuous improvement opportunities in processes, controls and workpapers, and ensuring these are well documented
8. Assist the Finance team with insights andmentary for management reporting, cash and capital planning
9. Support Operational Finance and broader Finance team to ensure smooth and timely year-end process
10. Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business to provide information that supports business decision making and ad hoc requests
11. Support Group Finance reporting and information requests
12. Support internal and external audits
WHO YOU ARE
13. Bachelor's degree and/or relevant job experience
14. Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in end-to-end payroll management, with a strong understanding of Australian payroll
15. Experience in owning the delivery of monthly payroll and performing calculations and meeting obligations relating to PAYG, Superannuation, Payroll Tax, and Workerspensation
16. Demonstrated experience in process and system improvements, including technology change initiatives
17. Experience with payroll journals, reconciliations, and accounting systems such as NetSuite is a plus
18. Excellent written, verbal,munication and presentation skills, with the ability to package information clearly and concisely
19. Strong time management skills, including the ability to prioritize conflicting deadlines andmunicate effectively with stakeholders
20. Strong controls awareness, including experience with control frameworks and improvements
21. Self-motivated and able to act autonomously to manage the payroll processing function
22. Ability to adapt quickly and effectively managepeting priorities
23. Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office
24. Desire to continue learning and growing within the role
