About The Role Youth Justice Services is responsible for the safety, security, and rehabilitation of young people both in the community and custody. Its core objective is to reduce reoffending among young people and to divert young people away from the criminal justice system.
The Key role of the Youth Support Officer is to provide positive role modelling to young people in the justice system and encourage them to develop life skills necessary to lead a law-abiding lifestyle and support activities for the other Pilbara branches.
Under the direction of a Senior Youth Justice Officer or Youth Justice Officer, the position supports the young person and their family to achieve desired outcomes identified in the through care and case coordination plan.
Eligibility You will need to be able to demonstrate experience working with children or young people facing challenges, a strong ability to connect, support and advocate for youth in the community.
A "C" Class Driver's License as travel within the Pilbara Region is required.
All employees are required to undergo employment screening, which includes a National Criminal History Check and other checks that may be relevant to the position requirements.
To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.
In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position.
