The Role
The City of Ballarat currently has a vacancy for a Street (Road) Sweeper Operator within the Street Cleaning team, contributing to the cleanliness and presentation of our paths, tracks and streets for Ballarat's residents and visitors alike. The importance of cleanliness for all users of the City is highly valued.
The successful applicant will be responsible for cleaning specific areas around the municipality in a safe and tidy manner and in accordance with established maintenance programs, as well as reactive tasks as required.
Commencement salary for a Street Sweeper Operator is $84,872.32 per annum inclusive of any applicable allowances plus statutory superannuation as set out under the Ballarat City Council Enterprise Agreement No. 9, 2023.
The ordinary hours of work for full-time employees employed within the Street Cleaning Unit will be 76 hours per fortnight worked (8.5 ordinary hours with 30 minutes unpaid lunch per day) with one Rostered Day off (RDO) per fortnight to be taken at a mutually agreeable time. This position has a starting time of 3:12AM.
Staff within the Street Cleaning team share the requirement to work rostered weekends (overtime) and public holidays.
The annualised package consists of the following:
Band 3B plus allowances & Inclusions:
* Early Start Loading – 18 hours
* Annual Leave Loading
* Public Holidays – 10 hours per year
* Service Time Overtime – 1.35 hours per week.
The position requires a Victorian Heavy Rigid endorsed licence.
Key Selection Criteria
* Qualifications and experience as listed in the position description.
* Demonstrated experience in an operational, cleaning or works role operating plant and hand tools (or relatable field).
* Demonstrated experience operating small trucks, sweepers, street vacuums or related plant.
* Demonstrated experience working as a positive member of a team.
* Experience following directions and working to a schedule.
* Demonstrated ability to work to a rotating roster, work regular overtime, procedures, schedules and fill out appropriate daily and weekly forms.
* Demonstrated experience complying with and working to Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.
