What’s the role? Sky News Australia is looking to recruit a TV Producer with excellent writing and production skills for its opinion programs. The successful applicant will play a key role in putting the network’s leading television programs to air each evening. We are looking for a journalist who lives and breathes politics, news and current affairs and loves television. If you aren’t already working for a TV company, you desperately want to. The successful applicant will: Work closely with the host to produce programs that inform and entertain our viewers. Produce accurate and well-written copy, with compelling teases, smart intros and brilliant questions for panel topics. Come up with excellent ideas for fresh contributors on a range of themes. Identify interesting stories to discuss, with supporting elements. Book talent into studios and liaise over what they’ll bring to the show’s dialogue. Research subjects to ensure debates are on the money and brimming with topicality. Write straps and create graphic elements to energise editorials and add visuals to panel chats. Cut overlay and grabs using our Quantel editing software and input the correct production instructions into the ENPS platform for control room staff. Output shows live from the control room, communicating with pilots, TDs, hosts, reporters and guests Collaborate with a small team to produce a clean, quality, risk-free, legally sound rundown. Collaborate with our Digital team to ensure your best content reaches our worldwide audience across our platforms. Complete and comply with all News Corp and ANC policies, including ANC’s Social Media Policy, News Corp Global Standards etc. Who are you? You have newsroom experience, and preferably have worked in TV or radio. You are a great writer with a nice turn of phrase who can mount a persuasive argument and can turn out read-me straps to accompany the conversation. You are a news junkie who is totally on top of the daily agenda. You have a handle on social media and can offer clips to enrich our programs. You are able to tune into the voice of your host and adapt your writing accordingly. You are full of ideas. You have great time-management skills and are calm under pressure. You enjoy being part of a friendly and professional team. You are not a 9-5 person, you understand we work evenings and some weekends as part of the news cycle.
