Information Technology Services (ITS) Full time, continuing position Base salary will be in the range $113,377 - $127,112 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 8) Based at our St Lucia location About This Opportunity The Technical Leader, Networks will be the senior technical leader and resource for IT Network Infrastructure, focussing on datacentre networks, campus/wireless networks and assisting in the support of underpinning infrastructure including virtualisation, cloud, converged infrastructure, and security infrastructure. It is a senior escalation point within the team, supporting more junior team members in delivering services. Working within the Infrastructure Operations team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day function of datacentre and campus networks, complex troubleshooting across underpinning infrastructure, involvement in the design and provisioning of networks, as well as assisting with IT change and implementation projects as part of continuous improvement to UQ’s IT services. Key responsibilities will include: Technical Leadership & Advisory : Provide technical leadership for IT services at the University, collaborating with various groups and acting as a technical advisor for designated services. Project Management & Coordination : Lead and assist with significant IT projects, ensuring effective coordination and timely execution. Support & Documentation : Offer advice, contribute to business process documentation, resolve customer issues, and provide advanced technical support for relevant technologies. Innovation & Mentorship : Investigate and implement emerging technologies, identify opportunities for service enhancement, and provide senior-level advice and mentorship to team members. Significant experience in consulting, advising, and coordinating IT projects across various stakeholder levels. Highly skilled in troubleshooting and resolving complex IT issues and incidents. Over 5 years of experience in managing large-scale communications networks, with expertise in areas like routing, switching, network security, and MPLS. In-depth knowledge in network infrastructure, including experience with technologies such as Cisco, Palo Alto, SDN, and wireless LAN. Expertise in working with hyper-converged infrastructure, VMware virtualized environments, infrastructure automation, and public cloud services (AWS, Azure). Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to mentor team members and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to innovate, adopt new technologies, and prioritize workloads to deliver quality outcomes within deadlines.
