Overview The Emergency Department (ED) of Mount Gambier and District Health Service (MGDHS) is located halfway between Adelaide and Melbourne in the heart of the picturesque Limestone Coast.MGDHS is the hub of the Limestone Coast Local Health Network with feeder hospitals in Naracoorte, Millicent, Kingston Southeast, and Bordertown as well GP sites at Robe and Penola, plus Edenhope and Casterton over the border in Victoria giving a local catchment population of over 75,000 people - and growing.With only 1-2 registrars on each shift there is plenty of opportunity to see high acuity patients with consultant support onsite 0800-2400 (and callback support overnight).The ED is staffed by a supportive consultant group, a pool of nurse practitioners/candidates and registered and enrolled nursing staff.MGDHS ED has provisional ACEM training accreditation (including paediatric logbook) backed by a diverse and eager group of consultants that are ready to support you through the next phase of your training.There are multiple opportunities for Training Stage 4 roles suiting a variety of trainee interests while simultaneously addressing local need, making for a rewarding experience. Presentations are approaching 30,000 patients every year, with a significant proportion of children with local paediatric admitting services.It is backed by a comprehensive point of care laboratory and round-the-clock radiology services.The ED offers code blue support to the inpatient wards and outpatient services (dental clinic, dialysis unit, infusion suites, allied health and medical clinics).As an accredited emergency registrar, you will have the opportunity to handle a diverse range of medical emergencies and utilise various management techniques. About the Role Emergency medicine registrars are supported to deliver comprehensive, effective and efficient emergency care to a wide variety of patients.You will have the opportunity to perform a wide range of procedures from reducing simple dislocations to providing intensive airway and circulatory support.You will have the opportunity to provide leadership commensurate to your level of training, including TS4 responsibilities of morbidity and mortality meetings, delivery of education sessions, clinical review mechanisms, and quality improvement processes. About You Holding a Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent, you will have general registration with the Medical Board of Australia and be enrolled in, or demonstrate an intent to enrol in the ACEM, RACGP-RG (ED) or ACRRM (ED AST) training programs.Demonstrating experience appropriate to training program/stage in the management of paediatric and adult emergencies, you will possess appropriate skill in professional judgement, clinical competence, negotiation and communication within a multidisciplinary setting as expected for your level of training.
