Responsibilities This position requires the candidate to be highly knowledgeable in heavy industrial structural design and construction. Provide technical design leadership Exercise a level of independent judgment with little to no direction from management. Conceptual design and final engineering The ability to resolve technical design conflicts. Manage the structural design effort for multiple projects. Develop engineering drawings and documents with little to no direction from management. Generate technical solutions to problems of unusual complexity. Perform design calculations. Use computer-aided design equipment. Participate in project meetings and act as structural team lead Working in, and sometimes leading, teams on large multi-discipline projects Thrive in a fast-paced, schedule-driven atmosphere Make and meet commitments Perform field work and observe construction (climbing stairs and ladders, extensive walking) Monitor budgets and schedules Mentor junior engineers Light travel – mostly within the Kentucky/Tennessee/Illinois/Missouri region Develop proposals (gathers information, makes studies, performs calculations, etc.). Generate material take-offs and construction estimating Requirements Bachelor's degree in an ABET-accredited Civil or Structural Engineering program Possess or be on track to obtain a Kentucky Professional Engineer license within 6 months 4-7 years relevant experience in a high-seismic area is required Excellent people and communication skills (oral and written) Team player and ability to work on multiple projects Strong computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, etc.). Ability to work well with other engineers/designers. Ability to work on job sites gathering information. Occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery.
