General Description: The Sr. Network Technician is responsible for installation and maintenance of PLU data, voice and video infrastructure. This position works as part of a tight-knit team to design and implement cabling and infrastructure needs for campus-wide Networking, Telecommunications, and related systems. This position will have the opportunity to learn how to troubleshoot and maintain a broad array of technology, including telephone systems, wired and wireless networks, security cameras, alarm & emergency communication systems. This position is also responsible for phone moves, adds, and changes, as well as acting as back up to the Infrastructure Manager & Network Manager positions. Reports to the Infrastructure Manager.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
* Provide support to the campus community on phone and network-related problems.
* Perform PBX (digital & analog) and voicemail programming and maintenance, data moves, adds, and changes.
* Configure, update, and maintain campus-wide telecommunications infrastructure, documentation, and standards.
* Design and implement wireless and wired network infrastructure to support end-user and infrastructure connectivity campus-wide.
* Create, update, and maintain SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) guides, troubleshooting manuals, and system documentation.
* Serve as primary support contact for telecommunications vendors (carriers as well as software and service providers).
* Maintain E911 database accuracy.
* Support emergency systems and safety technologies such as alarm, mass-notification, access control, & video surveillance systems collaboratively with I&TS, Campus Safety, and Facilities staff.
* Assist with the supervision, training, and work assignments of student technicians.
* Perform other duties as assigned.
