Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.
Thanks for stopping by. We know job hunting can be a little time consuming and you're probably keen to find out what's on offer, so we'll get straight to the point.
What you'd be doing in this role:
As a Senior Data Scientist for the People Group, you'll shape how Canva leverages people data to enhance the Canvanaut experience, drive data informed decision-making and achieve our strategic people goals. Our mission is to unlock the power of people data, to drive insights, actions and empower Canvanauts to do the best work of their lives.
You'll drive impact by leading data governance initiatives and best practices, partnering with teams to enhance data quality, building insightful dashboards that track our key metrics and progress, and developing a comprehensive view of people, performance and workforce trends to inform strategic decisions.
At the moment, this role is focused on:
* Leading the vision and roadmap for our People Analytics function, aligning priorities with the broader Canva and People goals, and driving team execution of that roadmap.
* Being a strategic thought partner to the People team, identifying opportunities to leverage data for more strategic decision making.
* Taking initiative to look ahead, spotting high-impact opportunities, aligning senior stakeholders and keeping things moving at pace.
* Continuing to build out foundational reporting and analytics capabilities, including dashboards and key metrics, to empower data-driven decisions.
* Managing project intake, prioritization and staffing against key initiatives.
* Providing leadership and guidance on our people data governance framework, ensuring the integrity, security, and compliant use of people data, and educating and uplifting our people teams on these standards.
You're probably a match if:
* You have extensive experience in defining team strategy and data roadmaps, ideally in the people analytics domain.
* You have expertise in data governance, enhancing data quality, and promoting ethical data practices, collaborating with teams to implement and bring these principles to life.
* You're strong in SQL and have experience with data warehouses such as Snowflake, Redshift, or BigQuery.
* You have experience working with internal-facing data tooling, including BI tools, glossaries, and other tools.
* You have people skills and know how to coordinate a team, align with stakeholders, and organize a data strategy.
* You're a solid communicator, with an ability to break down complex topics into simple solutions and ideas. Stakeholder management skills are vital in this role.
* You have a proven track record of building out a data-driven culture where data drives the strategy forward.
* You're able to drive alignment with disparate stakeholders and rally them around a goal or vision.
