Start Date: 3/8/25 POSITION OBJECTIVE: The lifeguard is responsible for implementing and administering all water safety procedures and policies; supervising members, and guests in and around the swimming pool; ensuring the swimming pool and surrounding areas are safe and clean; and that all pool rules and regulations are followed.
POSITION FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: Ensure all areas of the pool area are clean and maintained according to Club standards.Greet all members, guests, and employees in a warm, friendly, and service-oriented manner.Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Club policy, as required by scheduling which may vary according to the needs of the Club.Perform required pool pre-opening duties.Always supervise and observe swimmers to ensure their safety.Vacuum pool bottom; empty automatic skimmer; skim bugs and other debris from the surface to prepare the pool for daily use.Administer care to swimmers' minor injuries such as small cuts and bruises.Assist in organizing clinics and private swimming lessons for members and guests as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager or instructors.Follow detailed procedures and enforce rules of conduct at the pool to ensure safe and efficient operations.Check first aid supplies and report needed items.Organize and monitor pool games; suggest pool-side activities and games.Place the rescue tube and ring buoy on the lifeguard chair in the morning; return these and all swimming aids and pool toys to the lifeguard locker when the pool closes.Straighten the pool areas at the end of the day.Maintain all necessary records determined by the Swimming Pool Manager.Attend all meetings as directed by the Swimming Pool Manager.Participate in pool safety programs and risk management.Informs the swimming pool manager about unresolved member or guest disruptions that could cause a safety problem.Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the Swimming Pool Manager.Other duties may be assigned as business demands. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: High school education or equivalent preferred.Current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate required.American Red Cross Basic First Aid is preferred.Training on AED units and possession of a current Red Cross CPR card is required.Ability to swim laps and dive to the bottom of the pool.Possess strong oral and written communication skills.Demonstrated knowledge of pool chemistry, rescue and surveillance techniques, CPR/AED, and blood-borne pathogens.Strong member/guest service skills, and high internal standards of quality and service.Demonstrated results-oriented and capable of working independently with minimal direction.Ability to perform a required role in emergencies. PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Requires the ability to push, pull, and safely lift up to 50 pounds.Ability to walk, stand, bend stretch, twist or reach, stoop, climb stairs, balance, and/or crouch.Physical exertion over long periods.Be able to work in a standing position for long periods.Must be able to convey information and ideas.Must be able to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.Must be effective in listening to, understanding, and clarifying the concerns and issues raised by members, guests, and employees. TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an outdoor setting in a busy, noisy environment.Some varied conditions are expected with exposure to often hot, heat/humidity, slippery, and wet. Able to tolerate the smell of chlorine and frequent exposure to cleaning agents, fumes, or airborne particles.Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, and extended hours as business dictates. #J-18808-Ljbffr
