This role is in the DroneShield Sydney headquarters in Pyrmont, Sydney. There are approximately 200 staff based in the 4,000sqm facility today, scheduled to grow to approximately 300 staff by end of 2026. Overseas on the ground presence includes Virginia (USA), Denmark, Germany and Dubai, as well as distributors in over 70 countries globally.
About the role
DroneShield is seeking an Electronics Test Engineer with relevant experience to join the team in Sydney, NSW.
The position will report to the VP of Quality. This role will be responsible for the informal and formal electronics testing of DroneShield prototypes and production units as well as managing compliance testing with external parties. This will include the writing of test plans and recording of results.
Responsibilities, Duties and Expectations
* Consult with various teams to understand testing requirements and product requirements
* Write up test plans and test reports
* Develop in-house testing rigs and set up test equipment
* Conduct electronics testing in house
* Coordinate with external parties for product certification and testing not possible within DroneShield
* Thorough understanding of electronics test standards
* Communicate findings with various teams and suggest product improvements
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
* Degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or relevant experience required
* Experience in writing test plans and recording results
* Experience is setting up test equipment and sourcing test equipment from suppliers
* Experience certifying products to FCC, CE and military standards in house or externally
* Experience in conducting common electronics tests such as reliability, temperature cycling, failure analysis
* Altium experience favourable
* Ability to read schematics
* Debugging and fault-finding experience favourable
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills
* Suitable to hold a security clearance if required
