Mental Health Lived Experience Worker
Based in Gippsland, Latrobe Regional Health are looking for a Consumer Perspective, Mental Health Lived Experience Worker to join our Traralgon Community Mental Health team on a part time basis until September 2024.
As a Mental Health Consumer Lived Experience Worker, you will provide peer support to consumers who are receiving care from Latrobe Regional Health Mental Health Service.
You will form mutually supportive and empathetic peer relationships by appropriately and purposefully sharing your own story and understanding of the impacts of mental distress and illness on consumers.
You will use your lived experiences supporting someone through service use and recovery to provide emotional and practical support, making it easier to navigate the mental health system, and inspiring confidence, optimism, and hope in others about the journey of recovery.

We are looking for candidates with:
6. Lived experience of being a consumer of Menatl health services
7. A willingness to purposefully and appropriately use your own story to help others further their own understanding of and belief in recovery
8. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well as part of a multidisciplinary team
