Regulation 7 - Family Consultant (Psychologist / Social Worker)PSYCHOLOGISTS & SOCIAL WORKERSAre you an experienced clinician who wants to work in a role that directly promotes the best interests of children?Are you looking for a clinical role that is flexible and can work around your other commitments, such as caring responsibilities or other clinical practice?The Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia is seeking experienced registered Psychologists and qualified Social Workers to provide high quality family assessment reports for Court.Successful applicants would not be employees of the Court but would be appointed as a Family Consultant pursuant to Regulation 7 of the Family Law Regulations 1984 (Cth), for the purpose of providing Family Reports. They may also be required to attend Court hearings to provide evidence under cross examination in relation to those reports. Regulation 7 Family Consultants are paid for these services in accordance with a set schedule of fees.Family Reports are ordered by the Court to assist in making decisions about parenting in family law proceedings. The Regulation 7 Family Consultant interviews and observes adults and children in order to assess risk factors and family dynamics relevant to the issues in dispute. They then provide a formal report to assist the Court in establishing what arrangements are in the best interests of the children.Applications are sought from experienced clinicians in metropolitan and regional areas of ACT, Victoria, Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia, and Tasmania, but in particular Newcastle, Dubbo, Albury, Wagga, Wollongong, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Parramatta, Sydney, Tamworth/ Armidale, Canberra, Hobart, Launceston, Darwin, Alice Springs, Hervey Bay, and Gympie.Applicants must be either a registered Psychologist or eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and have a minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience working with children and families. Ideally, applicants will have access to appropriate consulting rooms.
