About the University The University of Notre Dame Australia is a private Catholic University with over 1,000 permanent staff providing an exceptional educational experience to over 12,000 students across our Fremantle, Broome, and Sydney campuses, as well as clinical schools in Victoria and New South Wales.About the School The School of Law & Business aims to deliver a career-focused education that will equip you with the practical skills and knowledge required to adapt and excel in the highly competitive worlds of law and business.The school offers undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses in the Accounting, Economics & Finance disciplines as well as research-based doctoral degrees.About the Role The School of Law & Business seeks to appoint a legal academic on our Sydney campus.Responsibilities include the coordination and delivery of law courses and programs.You will be responsible for the creation, coordination, and delivery of inspiring teaching informed by the Catholic intellectual tradition with a focus on ethical leadership and community.You will be an innovative teacher, committed to enhancing the experience of the students and building the school community.You will work independently and meet deadlines for assessment, marking, and moderation, while also collaborating in a collegial team.Contributions to school events and engagement with external stakeholders are expected.Key Responsibilities Involvement in special projects and leadership in relation to the design, implementation, and ongoing review of curriculum and accreditation activities of undergraduate and/or postgraduate programs.Prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials, and other classes as relevant.Conduct research and supervise honours or postgraduate research projects.Undertake course coordination and develop program material with appropriate advice and support from senior staff.Undertake marking, assessment, moderation, and consultation with students.Undertake a range of administrative functions related to the courses in which the academic teaches. Qualifications, Skills & Experience A PhD or equivalent qualification in Law.Relevant experience in the legal profession is preferred.Experience in teaching and expertise in one or more of the following areas: Legal Research & Writing, Remedies, Equity, Administrative Law, Commercial Practice & Ethics, Legal History, Trusts, The Legal Environment of the Asia-Pacific Region, International Business Law and Dispute Resolution, International Business Law in Practice, Asia-Europe Trade Law, Comparative Mergers and Acquisitions Law, Research Methods, or International Cultural Heritage Law.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to foster high levels of collegiality and empathy with students.
