The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital’s Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia. It includes six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care and counselling services, reducing the need to travel outside of the region for care. It is also one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24 / 7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. At this stage, nurses develop from competent to proficient practitioners, taking on increased responsibility for their own practice standards and guiding less experienced staff. The role remains primarily clinical in nature, but nurses at this level are also assigned specific portfolio responsibilities, which are tailored to their career development plans. These responsibilities are negotiated in alignment with the employee's performance review and development goals, offering a pathway for professional growth and leadership.The Registered Nurse (RN / M1) role is focused on nurses who are evolving from novice to proficient practitioners. Nurses at this level provide high-quality nursing and / or midwifery services in various healthcare settings, consolidating their knowledge and skills while continuously developing through professional experience and ongoing education. Nurses at this stage are responsible for maintaining their own standards of care and are accountable for activities delegated to others. This role offers significant opportunities for professional development and the chance to further enhance clinical skills in a supportive and collaborative environment.About You :Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.RN / M2C Requirements :Registered Nurse / Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.RN / M1 Requirements :Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances).The South Australian public sector promotes diversity and flexible ways of working including part-time.
