The incumbent may be required to attend duty for up to the 30 days additional paid leave period.The Technology Manager is responsible for maintaining the secure, efficient and continuous operation of the various elements of Informational and Communications Technology (ICT) infrastructure used at Kurnai College. This position will oversee the efficient and effective operation of the Information Technology (IT) team, under the direction of the Business Manager.They are responsible for developing an ICT strategy for Kurnai College to ensure its activities in this area align with the strategic and operational needs of the college.Responsibilities· Leading the development of an ICT strategy to support student learning across the college and meet operational needs, with the Business Manager and college leadership team.· Leading the implementation, monitoring and ongoing planning required of this strategy, including ICT infrastructure and software.· Supporting teaching and learning teams to create a diverse and flexible ICT platform that enhances opportunities and outcomes for students.· Creating and facilitating ICT related professional learning and induction to staff.· Researching and evaluating new or emerging technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, suitable for implementation.Systems & Networking infrastructure· Developing and maintaining the systems architecture, defining standards and protocols for data exchange, communications, software and interconnection of network information systems.· Developing and maintaining system recovery plans in the event of power failure, damage to systems etc.· Overseeing the management, maintenance and deployment of servers and systems, including management of VMware hosts, SANs and all networking infrastructure.· Overseeing the administration of all Windows services including: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, WSUS, SCCM image deployment.· Overseeing the Administration network, desktop & CASES21 support.ICT infrastructure· Overseeing the IT team in the installation, maintenance, configuration, monitoring, improvement, fault diagnosis and hardware problems relating to all ICT infrastructure.· Management and co-ordination of the staff notebook program.· Management of the college telephone system.Operational leadership· Leading, developing, supervising and coordinating the work of the IT team.· Managing the IT team resources to meet priorities, monitoring workloads, reviewing progress and outcomes.· Developing and conducting training programs for computer systems users.· Overseeing the installation and configuration of new hardware and software systems.· Overseeing the preparation and technical administration of major assessment and survey systems such as NAPLAN and other systems as they may arise.Administration, budgets and contracts· Working with the Business Manager to develop and monitor the ICT budget.· Reviewing IT contracts as required, making recommendations for improvement where appropriate.· Maintaining records of contracts and service agreements.· Leading the development, maintenance and communication of ICT related documentation, policies and procedures.· Overseeing relationships with the college’s ICT vendors.Security· Maintaining the security and confidentiality of data and passwords in accordance with DET guidelines.· Leading the college response to any IT security issues in accordance with DET guidelines.Who May ApplyIndividuals with the aptitude, experience and/or qualifications to fulfill the specific requirements of the position.Conditions of EmploymentAll staff employed by the Department and schools have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.Appointment of successful applicants will be made subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment and induction and support programs provided.Detailed information on all terms and conditions of employment is available on the Department's Human Resources website at Department HR.At least five years experience in a similar position.Highly desirable, formal qualifications in IT or relevant experience.Experience with a range of software, hardware and operations systems.Experience preparing and managing budgets.Proven track record of effective project management.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Proven track record of supervising and mentoring technical employees.Broad knowledge of industry standards and best practices in the use of technology (preferably in schools or other education settings).
