About the role: We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to support EastCoast Bullbars in delivering high-quality engineering outcomes. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing automotive products to ensure compliance with industry standards and project deadlines.
You will also assist with managing design changes for existing products in production, collaborating closely with internal teams to implement improvements. This is a dynamic opportunity to work on both new product development and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Please be aware this is a short term 6-month contract role. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop products using CAD, ensuring feasibility with input from engineering and manufacturing teams. Assist with the maintenance and management of existing product designs in production. Manage and execute engineering change requests (ECRs) and implement improvements based on operational feedback. Conduct FEA simulations, performance testing, and data analysis to ensure product safety and compliance. Provide support to fabrication teams during product manufacturing and collaborate with stakeholders to meet project goals. Contribute to internal process audits, factory upgrades, and improvements to workflows and design tools. Collaborate with clients to achieve engineering outcomes. About You: Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering (mandatory). Good experience in automotive design and engineering, with experience in vehicle frontal protection systems preferred. Strong skills in 3D CAD modelling, FEA, and drafting techniques, with familiarity with AS1100 standards. Understanding of manufacturing processes, basic automotive electrical systems, and relevant Australian Standards and ADRs. High level of analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement. Ability to manage shifting project demands in a dynamic work environment with excellent time management. Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
