Join our team as a Commis Chef at The Star Brisbane.
Our breathtaking resort, positioned at the heart of the new Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct, will commence a staged opening in 2024, bringing a range of unique entertainment options, world class hotels, dining, bars, luxury retail, gaming and a state-of-the-art Event Centre to the river city.
The Commis Chef, reporting to the Demi Chef will become an important part of our pre-opening team. This role offers the opportunity to produce food items relevant to the Chefs Department to the highest possible standards of quality and presentation whilst meeting established deadlines.
In your role you will initially have the opportunity to work across Treasury Brisbane whilst being involved in the opening of The Star Brisbane.
A few of your responsibilities
• Maintain warm and hospitable guest service and relations with both internal and external guests.
• Prepares food in a clean working environment in line with business volumes.
• Thorough knowledge of the entire menu, including an understanding of all base products and ingredients used.
• Food is prepared for food presentation, in line with menu requirements and kitchen standards (SOP’s)
• Demonstrate knowledge of and be able to use a broad range of cooking and food preparation equipment and skills, such as sauté, braising etc
• Be able to perform complex cooking duties and produce a dish/recipe, from a combination of ingredients without supervision and assist mis en place across all sections.
What we will be looking for
· High volume culinary experience
· Can- do team attitude
· Strong knowledge of food safety regulations
· Trade certificate in Commercial Cookery
You will be experienced in high volume kitchen environments with sound knowledge across all sections. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of kitchen hygiene practices and OH&S standards and taking pride in keeping your section stocked and tidy. The role of Commis Chef is integral to the team and ensuring all preparation for you section is in line with service for the day and adhering to food safety requirements.

About us
The $ billion Queen’s Wharf Brisbane development is being delivered by Destination Brisbane Consortium – a joint venture led by The Star Entertainment Group alongside its partners.
When complete, Queen’s Wharf Brisbane will deliver four new luxury hotels, more than 50 new food and beverage experiences, significant luxury retail, the restoration of nine heritage buildings and around 1,500 residential apartments.
