Monitor and verify compliance with relevant conditions on each of the major approvals (development consents, extraction plans/ subsidence management plans, mining leases and environment protection licences). Provide expert advice on mining related activities to ensure that the impacts on WaterNSW special areas, assets and operations are mitigated (prevented, minimised and/or offset). Prepare reports, briefs, policies and communications on mining issues to ensure that the proper course of action/decisions can be taken based on statutory requirements, sound science, rigorous assessments and reliable data. Provide expert advice relating to the assessment of mining state significant development (SSD), state significant infrastructure (SSI) projects and mining REF assessment (activities) where WaterNSW is the determining authority. Advise on the potential impact of mining activities to ensure appropriate protective and mitigation measures on the WaterNSW infrastructure assets are established to minimise risk. Support the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to mining matters based on the contemporary science and the regulatory framework to ensure that risks to WaterNSW special areas, assets and operations are minimised. What we are looking for: Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Planning/Engineering/ Science/Assessment/ Management/ Law or other relevant discipline. Comprehensive knowledge of government policies, regulatory frameworks and statutory requirements, with particular emphasis on mining and environmental management. Comprehensive knowledge of the assessment and verification of mining-related data and impacts. Experience in working on mining related issues within sensitive environments. Experience in subsidence and environmental impact assessment and environmental monitoring and management of major mining projects with emphasis on longwall mining activities.
