The Role: The Tailor - Alterations Full-time/Part-time is a hybrid role where you can showcase your expertise in altering garments while providing exceptional customer experiences. You will be responsible for basic sewing tasks of hemming, ironing, and altering of garments based on the specifications, needs, and preferences of our customers. You should demonstrate sound knowledge of various fabrics and sewing techniques and be confident in performing basic tailoring with experience in using industrial sewing machines. With a focus on providing a holistic customer experience and ensuring utmost customer satisfaction, you will also provide operational support on the sales floor and/or back of house when needed. This role will require you to be rostered across a variety of shifts including late night trading, weekends, and public holidays. Key Responsibilities: • Precisely sew garments that meet measurements and follow standard manufacturing methods. • Speed is necessary but accuracy and quality is most important. • Thread machines and replace needles when needed. • Maintain proper care and maintenance of sewing machines. • Altering garments according to the instructions. • Meeting and greeting all customers in a friendly manner. • Helping customers with any of their needs. • Processing of deliveries, maintaining tidy stock and equipment/back of house areas. • Replenishment of stock and display changes on the shop floor. Essential Skills and Experience: • Highly experienced in operating an INDUSTRIAL sewing machine (REQUIRED). • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills. • Effective communication skills. • Good hand-eye coordination and high attention to detail. • Ability to be approachable and comfortable talking to a range of customers. • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
