The Principal Engineer – Winches position is responsible for managing the delivery of fit for purpose designs relating to the winch product line.Execution of the duties within the scope, financial and contractual constraints and in accordance with the quality and safety systems of the company.Effectively lead the team, ensuring accepted engineering practices, standards adherence and sound technical skills.Key Responsibilities - Technical/Engineering Lead the execution of Winch product development, design, definition and delivery by Provision of estimates to tenders, conforming to the technical requirements of the same or providing departures with technical justification as required.Ensuring the timely progress of projects through collaboration with the Projects team, submission and completion of designs & drawings according to the Project or Tender Program.Ensures that all designs produced meet the appropriate Standards and Regulations, through calculations for conveyor systems and utilising FEA analysis and software as required.Ensuring timely and accurate creation of Items and Bills of Materials in the company ERP system to facilitate downstream processes.Ensure that appropriate risk mitigation strategies and processes are used to ensure design and financial outcomes are met.Implementation and monitoring of accepted design engineering practices to achieve engineering design and documentation to company requirements.Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate effective execution of designs into tangible solutions.Ensuring verification and signoff of designs.Identifying and executing standardization opportunities to reduce variation.Identifying and executing initiatives, new ideas and innovation into the business.Developing speciality engineering resources to enable our client to differentiate in the marketplace.Ensure design risk assessments and installation, operation and maintenance risk assessments are completed in collaboration with stakeholders as required.Lead development of operation parts and maintenance manuals as well as commissioning documentation and SOPs as required.- Business Management/Commercial Assess short and long term needs for the Winch product group, including trends, problems and profit opportunities.Execute the organisation objectives, programs, standards and targets within guidelines set by management.Co-ordinate and monitor the activities of all team members, ensuring appropriate communication between them in order to link to the business strategy.Interact with clients as key technical resource to support design and sales opportunities.Work closely with the sales and tendering team in the preparation, submission, negotiation and management of day-to-day enquiries.Education, Qualifications and Experience Engineering degree / diploma or related discipline.10-years' experience in the engineering field of heavy industry.5 years experience as Lead or Principal Engineer (highly desirable).Demonstrated experience in delivering engineering designs in a complex environment.Experience in executing engineering design to meet customer and mandated standards.To be considered for this role, please click the 'Apply Now' link to submit your application.Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.Interviews will commence immediately!
