Located on either the Camperdown or Camden campus at the School of Life and Environmental Sciences Exciting opportunity to use your specialised skills and disciplinary expertise in animal physiology Base Salary (Level B) $122,830 - $145,858 p.a 17% superannuation About the opportunity The School of Life and Environmental Sciences (SOLES) at The University of Sydney is seeking to appoint a education focused Lecturer in Animal Physiology. The University of Sydney has an illustrious 114-year history and significant disciplinary strength in animal and veterinary science including animal reproduction and genetic, animal behaviour and welfare, animal nutrition, molecular biology and biochemistry, animal agriculture and husbandry, animal physiology and pathology and applied animal microbiology and parasitology; augmented by outstanding plant, soil and environmental science. There are a number world-class animal and veterinary science units closely associated with the School including: The Veterinary Pathology and Diagnostic Services, Poultry Research Foundation and Dairy Research Foundation. On the Camden campus there are a variety of farms (poultry, dairy, sheep, pigs) that have been established for over 70 years providing world class opportunities to study and teach production animal physiology. The School is also associated with the various companion, exotic and production animal veterinary hospitals and animal care services offered at Camperdown and Camden to the local community providing you with exciting opportunities to study and teach animal anatomy and physiology in a broad range of animal species. The successful candidate will work closely with other academics in SOLES and the Sydney School of Veterinary Science, and with undergraduate students of Animal and Veterinary Biosciences. Academics in SOLES may be required to teach across multiple campuses and farm locations. Your key responsibilities will be to: coordinate and teach large intermediate units animal anatomy and physiology coordinate and teach capstone and research-based project units contribute to other teaching as required undertake disciplinary or pedagogical research that complements existing research program(s) within SOLES, consistent with a 20% research component. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Lecturer in Animal Physiology who has: a PhD or equivalent in veterinary/animal physiology, or a related animal/veterinary science discipline a Graduate Certificate in Education or equivalent coordinated and taught large intermediate units taught research- and project-based senior units experience running laboratory and/or field-based practicals for large (200) units of study expertise in animal anatomy and physiology a demonstrated understanding and experience of relevant work health and safety issues, including laboratory and field-based work a valid driver’s licence.
